Do you spend a lot of time alternately cursing the weather and marveling at the beauty of your surroundings? Do you eat fish and seafood given to you by your neighbour or that you caught yourself instead of buying it at your grocery store? Do your staple wardrobe items include gumboots or Stanfields?

If so, you must live on the North Island or Central Coast of British Columbia.

The northern end of Vancouver Island and the Central Coast of B.C. is one of the most spectacular areas on earth. We have windswept fjordlands and communities that have existed for thousands of years. We share our love of the area with orca and humpback whales who return to feed here every summer, following the movement of the fish. We make our livings working near or on the ocean, using many of its resources in our daily lives.

There are so many reasons that this area is spectacular, but it really comes down to four things: the people, the places, the fish, and what supports us all: the ocean.
