Living Oceans Society's programs are guided by the goals of conserving marine ecosystems and achieving sustainable economic development in coastal British Columbia.
Our programs study human impact on the ocean and find new and innovative ways to manage marine resources. We share the findings of our research with the public and policy makers.
Our five programs are working to:
- establish a network of marine protected areas
- develop sustainable fisheries
- transition to closed containment salmon farms
- ensure that our coast remains free of offshore oil and gas and tanker traffic
- see that the people who live and work on this coast have a voice in how the ocean and its resources are used
