Continuing our public outreach activities

Karen Wristen

We’re countering the multimillion dollar sales pitch by Big Oil by providing the true facts about oil tanker traffic in newspapers, on the six o’clock news and on radio talk shows.

We travel to communities big and small to make sure people know the risks and costs they’ll face if tankers come to the coast.

We use Google Earth to show exactly what we stand to lose from an oil spill. Our interactive map is easy to use and informative, so check it out.

Living Oceans is actively engaged in helping Canadians understand the potential impacts to the environment, economy and culture of British Columbia, should this project proceed. We’ve been active participants and organizers for national ‘days of action’ and helped present information to public audiences in the greater Vancouver area. We publish information routinely in French, as well as select publications in Mandarin; and we have been frequent guests on south Asian media.

We make the expert evidence available to the general public in plain language that allows people to make their own evaluations of the project.

We help amplify voices of opposition to pipeline and tanker projects with our Keep It Clean map.
