Healthy Oceans. Healthy Communities.

What We're Doing

Living Oceans Society is working to ensure Canada's Pacific North Coast remains oil free forever. Oil tankers were banned on the North and Central Coast from 1972, to prevent just such accidents as the Exxon Valdez oil spill. The Harper government now claims that no such moratorium exists and has approved the Northern Gateway Pipeline without putting the matter before the Houses of Parliament for debate.

We're calling on all political parties for a permanent tanker ban to keep oil and gas development off the North and Central Coast.
